Business rates are a tax on the occupation of business property. It is also a contribution towards the provision of a number of services rather than specific ones.
Rates are payable on most non-domestic properties. The multipliers used to calculate the rates payable before deducting any reliefs are set each year by the Government. We are responsible for sending out the bills and collecting rates from businesses in the Calderdale district.

We get many requests for information on Business Rates, which includes:
- Lists of empty properties;
- properties where relief has been granted;
- accounts in credit;
- new accounts created.
