Course description
The purpose of this course is to support health and social wellbeing through creative art and crafts.
This course builds on the skills and knowledge gained on the 3D Sculpture (First Step) course.
The course will be split up into stages: Materials and processes, model building, and developing own work.
An example of the activities which may be covered are listed below:
- Plaster casting.
- Wire models.
- Papier mâché.
- Foamboard models.
- Mask making.
- Modroc.
- Sketches and ideas.
- Clay work.
Topics are subject to availability of resources and will be determined by the tutor.

Next Step - The aim of these courses is to take your learning and confidence to the next stage. You will learn more about applying your skills further and delve deeper into the subject. For learners who have completed the First Step course.
Who this course is for
Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who want to develop their skills and understanding across a range of three dimensional techniques in a relaxing atmosphere.
The course will help hand/eye coordination and let learners develop from sketches to making. Supporting learners to develop skills, knowledge and understanding that improves the quality of their health and wellbeing and helps improve lifestyle choices.
Ideally you will have completed the 3D Sculpture (First Step) course or have previous experience.
What you need to bring
- Optional: a sketch book to jot down ideas and make sketches.
- You must be able to access the web-based learning platform Google Classroom during the course. To do this you will need access to IT equipment such as a smartphone, laptop, PC or tablet, and a stable internet connection. You will also need to install the Google Chrome browser if you do not have it already.
