Course description
Learners will be expected to complete 1 unit (6 credits in total) covering the Principles of Customer Service. The aim of this unit is to provide the candidate with the skills required to deliver efficient and reliable customer service. You will gain an understanding of customer expectations and needs and will be able to deal effectively with customer queries and complaints.
There are four learning outcomes to this unit::
- Know how to deliver good customer service
- Know different communication methods
- Know how to provide good customer service in line with organisational procedures
- Know how to effectively deal with customer queries, problems and complaints
This unit will be assessed through an externally set and marked test by the Awarding Organisation (City & Guilds). The question paper will take the form of a series of short answer questions and scenario-based tasks in which it is assumed that the candidate is dealing with customer queries and problems.
Course level
Level 1 - These qualifications are for learners who want to build on their basic skills or knowledge gained at Entry Level, or those who have gained some experience in the workplace.
Who is this course for?
Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who are interested in working in the customer service sector and want to gain an understanding of customer expectations and needs and understand how to deal effectively with customer queries and complaints.

What do I need to bring?
- You must bring with you a note book, pen and a folder for your work.
- You must be able to access the web-based learning platform Google Classroom during the course. To do this you will need access to IT equipment such as a smartphone, laptop, PC or tablet, and a stable internet connection.
