Course description
The purpose of this course is to support health and social wellbeing through creative art and crafts.
Supporting learners to develop skills, knowledge and understanding that improves the quality of their health and wellbeing and helps improve lifestyle choices.
An example of the activities which may be covered are listed below:
- Different types of painting and drawing techniques.
- Observational drawings/painting.
- Tone and shade.
- Still life, landscape and portraits.
- Use of pencils/charcoal and paints.
- Create art work determined in conjunction with the tutor.
- How the process of creating can alleviate symptoms of anxiety and stress. as art provides an outlet for self-expression and relaxation.
Topics are subject to availability of resources and will be determined by the tutor.
Course level
First Step - These courses are for complete beginners. You don't need to have studied the subject before or have any previous knowledge.
Who is this course for?
Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who are interested in improving their health and wellbeing while developing their skills in art, with a focus on learning a range of painting and drawing techniques.
This is a beginners course, so no previous experience is needed in the subject area. However, you will need the ability to make meaningful marks and shapes to represent a form. Please speak to our tutors prior to booking if in any doubt about the suitability of the course.
What do I need to bring?
- You may be asked to bring in objects or images from home to use as inspiration for your drawings/paintings.
- You must be able to access the web-based learning platform Google Classroom during the course. To do this you will need access to IT equipment such as a smartphone, laptop, PC or tablet, and a stable internet connection.
