Course description
The purpose of this course is to support health and social wellbeing through learning a language.
On the course you will learn how to:
- Introduce yourself to other people on the course.
- Develop social relationships by providing details about yourself and others, and asking questions.
- Tell the time using the 12 hour clock.
- Ask for and state opening and closing times of buildings.
- State your likes and dislikes.
- Talk about the weather.
- Talk about your daily routines.
- Explain to someone about past events.

Next Step - The aim of these courses is to take your learning and confidence to the next stage. You will learn more about applying your skills further and delve deeper into the subject. For learners who have completed the First Step course.
Who is this course for?
Residents of Calderdale aged 19+ who ideally complete the first step course in Spanish. Alternatively, you may have knowledge or experience of basic communication skills when booking hotels, ordering food, and introducing yourself to others, and want to further develop social skills and confidence when interacting with Spanish speakers.
Learners will improve their health and wellbeing, keep their minds active, improve their memory, and ability to focus on tasks by studying Spanish at a higher level.
What do I need to bring?
- The textbook, pen and paper. The textbook, which is different to that used in First Step, will be discussed at the first class.
- You must be able to access the web-based learning platform Google Classroom during the course. To do this you will need access to IT equipment such as a smartphone, laptop, PC or tablet, and a stable internet connection. You’ll also need to install Google Chrome Browser if you do not have this already – it's free to download and use, please visit: www.google.co.uk/chrome.
